Getting Help (Getting Started)
Where do I begin looking for help for my elderly loved one?
When looking for resources for elderly health care and senior care services in general, the first questions to ask are "How much time do I have to deal with this issue?" "Do I only need a small amount of guidance to be able to handle the situation on time?" Or, "Do I need the services of a senior care coordinator to streamline the process or hep with specific issues?"
The urgency of a situation may determine just how much you can do yourself. You should also consider obtaning guidance from legal, financial and state level professionals who can give advice on many issues. If you do not live near your elderly relative, you may want to review using a senior care coordinator to act as your eyes and ears to beter help you understand the ongoing status of situations. In general, these professionals can eliminate frustrations and misunderstandings, and possibly save you both time and money with their knowledge of local programs and resources.
